Island Peak

Island peak (6,160mt)

Island peak (6,160mt) is a mountain in Everest region which also known as Imja Tse. The peak is named so as it looks like an island in the ocean of ice when viewed from Dingboche. In 1953, as a first team British climbed this peak in course of their training exercise to climb Mt. Everest. Tenzing Norgey, the first person to assent Everest was also a member of the team. One does not necessarily need to have special mountaineering experiences to climb Island peak. However, climber can climb it with the support of Nepalese climbing guide.
